what's the difference...

I've heard that some schools have "rolling admissions" and others have "First, second, third round cuts" what's the difference between the two forms of admission?

no difference.  rolling admissions implies first/second/etc ...

first round just means that they sent out a batch of letters, all at the same date, either rejecting or accepting people.
