Stanford Ding
« on: January 24, 2005, 07:00:36 PM »
Letter came today in mail.

I'm shocked, simply shocked!  I can't believe that with sub-25th percentile numbers, being a non-URM and having no outstanding accomplishments (curing cancer, Rhodes scholar) they wouldn't want me.  Huh.

In light of this revelation, I am REALLY glad I didn't waste my money on a Harvard, Yale, Columbia or NYU application.   :D

Hope you guys are having better news this evening!

You know, I was so busy making fun of myself that I neglected to realize that I am the first Stanford ding on this board.  Does that make me the opposite of an "auto admit?"

Am I an "auto reject?"

Sad.

Don't you worry -- you will still get into a great school.  Boalt, maybe?  I would love to see you there!

I feel your pain!  My Stanford ding last year broke my heart.  The only thing that made it any better was that I got it at the end of April, having applied in December.  I figured I had survived a few cuts.

Hm.  I think someone was saying that this week last year was when they sent out the first wave of dings - expecting to get mine this week, too. :(  Although, I do live in Palo Alto, so maybe the fact that I havent gotten it yet is a good thing??

The fact that you are first makes you courageous... I will be too mortified to post my UW ding when (I should say if) it comes my way. I am sorry to hear about your Ding.  :(

Thanks guys, it's nice to hear some kind words.  I didn't want to live in Palo Alto anyway, I hear it's terrible and cold there.  :)

I'm still holding out for Boalt, USC or UCLA.  Somewhere in California has to want me!  :-\

Good luck to everyone else

Indeed.  Boalt girls are far more attractive.  You would fit right in. ;)

How are Stanford rejections worded?  Do they say "unable to accept your application" or do they use the term "reject"?
