Don't worry that the SHARK group (wannabe PETA I think) already drives around with a van proclaiming their problems with the bear's habitat.  We get enough sh*t about it.  I don't mean to be defensive, I guess I've already done that, but go bother UT or Colorado about drugging Bevo and the buffalo for games.

I still think it is ridiculous that the Mother of Christ is forced to attend all of St. Mary's athletic functions.... ;D

So are the bears nuetered/spayed or will they eventually have Baby Bears?  Or are the bears of the same sex?

Yeah, what is really stupid is that the SHARK group spent 50K on that damn van which was the same amount needed to update the bearpit. You would think that they would just donate that money to the school for the habitat they were bitching about. From my understanding, they weren't opposed to us having a live bear as a mascot just as long as its facilities were better.
The Internet is for porn and Lexis points.

Why poor bears them.  I'd like to be treated like they are, seriously.  Besides, if you're going to law school there you never really have to see them.

Not seeing the bears doesn't mean they aren't there.  I just find it pathetic that for the sake of some stupid pride.. an wild animal has to live in Waco of all places!

This isn't an attack of you Baylor folks.. Im just saying in general.  I'm from UT, and trust me I feel bad for Bevo too.  I wish we'd get a different mascot.. something like the aggies have :)

I can't speak for Colorado, but it's a myth that Bevo is sedated for the UT games. There was a huge article in the alumni magazine a few months ago.

Don't fell bad for Bevo, Xony. He lives better than you or I. When he's not at the games, he lives a life of luxury on a very nice ranch. He humps cows at will, he'll never be slaughtered, he gets to eat the very nice grass on the football field at games...he's a lucky bull!

But how do you keep that big damn animal under control then??

I asked Stedman the exact same question about Oprah...

Sorry, guess I should check my facts.  But how do you keep that big damn animal under control then??

Believe it or not, his breeders and trainers prepare him for the situation before he goes to the games. They play loud crowd noise in his stall when he's young, they put him in situations where he'll be around a lot of movement, and they train him not to freak out when they shoot the cannon. The bloodline the use for Bevo is known for its docility...evidently that's a big selling point when you're talking about a 1000lb. longhorn.
