I was born and raised in New Orleans, here are my suggestions...

Favorite Bars - Pat O's (Main Bar) / Balcony Bar / The Bulldog / Madigan's / Bruno's

Favorite Dive Bar - F&M Patio Bar / Grits / Nick's

Places to Eat - Mark Twain's Pizza (out in Metairie, my Dad owns it!) / Camillia Grill / Clancy's (very nice)

Where to Live - Uptown (where I live), Warehouse District is fun

Live Music - Tiptina's (of course), The Maple Leaf, Snug Harbor

Your Dad owns Mark Twain's???  I was there last week.  I live 2 minutes down Metairie Rd.  Hook it up.

I work in Metairie, but plan to head out of town for LS though in July or August.

Favorite Bars:  Phillips/Brunos/Pat O's/BBC (Bourbon St. Blues Co.)

Favorite Eats:  Port of Call (best burgers in NOLA)/Superior Grill

Favorite Dive:  Stepbrothers in Metairie

Where to live:  Uptown/ Metairie if you want a house and a yard for under $800

Live Music:  House of Blues/Howlin Wolf

favorite dive bar: snake and jake's!!!!  the hours of operation are seemingly between 4 and 6 in the morning; located uptown near the universities.  that bar is the bomb diggy.

place to eat: i third port of call.  my favorite though is the taqueria corona in the warehouse district.  best "famous" restaurant though is jacimo's near carrolton and feelings cafe in the bywaters.

favorite place to live: uptown.  the only place to live in new orleans as far as i am concerned.

live music: howling wolf, tipitinas uptown, the maple leaf on monday nights for rebirth.  twiropa if you like latin.

favorite bar??  that is a tough one.

favorite coffee shop: rue de la course.

casino

I'm more privy to the Tacqueria Corona in River Ridge...

If you like sushi, Sake Cafe is the best

I like the knockout trio of a Monsoon at Port of Call, Hand Grenade at Tropical Isle and a Hurricane at Pat O's.  All 3 in one night could lead to some interesting stories...

Finish those off with a Lucky Dog at the Harrah's Poker Room

I was drinking a Hand Grenade within an hour of my flight touching down last year.  Whoa man, potent.
