and i don't see how being part of tex's alleged "in crowd" has made anything different in terms of moderation of the boards. this is all way too conspiracy theory-ish.
you're being hyperbolic. a conspiracy was never alleged. Rather, it's just good old fashioned reality of social interaction. You and kgd are more likely to read lexy's stanford acceptance post than joe blow's cooley acceptance post. As such, lexy's stanford acceptance post is much much more likely to be 'protected' from hijackers (i.e. someone who's not in a congratulatory mood) than joe blow's acceptance thread.
And, i think if you and kgd are honest with yourselves, it makes int much easier intellectually to pull the "split" trigger when an off-topic post is made in a thread by someone who has traditionally been at odds with (as you call it) your e-friends that you e-know.
No, no conspiracy going on. Just good old fashioned human instincts. On a larger scale, this is exactly why 'moderators', 'auditors', 'prosecutors' etc. in the real world are encouraged *not* to have personal relationships with the people they are involved with in their official capacities. It's just too easy to lapse into a "friends helping friends" attitude.
KGD is not evil, she's just human and prone to typical human foibles like the rest of us.
