FWIW, people like myself (and most law students I know) don't visit this site precisely because it's too compartmentalized. If I can come and talk about current events (or even just law jobs really), I'm much more likely to respond to a question by some student applying to law school. As it is, most of the advice is going to be given to people by others in a similar position (otherwise, why would they bother frequenting the board), which is a terrible idea. It's basically equivalent to the blind leading the blind.
I'm not saying you should be more like xo in the sense that xo has become a safe haven for racists and offensive behavior. However, what xo did do right is create one centralized board with the option to view a particular subset of topics rather than creating several boards. If you want law students to continue to come to the prelaw boards to help, then you need to make sure there's some sort of reason they'd be visiting the board.
But it's your board, and I'm only visiting to be nice to future law students. I haven't been here in 2 years, and I probably won't be back for another 2.
