Schools with Nasty Reputations.

It all depends.  I have a friend at Georgetown, and the guy hates it.  His 1L section were all a-holes that stabbed each other in the back.  They would sabotague interviews and lie about exam times.  He witnessed a couple fistfights between students because of all this BS.

Then again when he talked to people in other sections, they were all friends and having a ton of fun.  Just the luck of the draw.

Getting into a fistfight at law school would be man alive.

Vandy has a positive reputation. They have a Dean's List but no class rankings, so that probably helps. No one hiding stuff or anything. I know several people who go/went there, and they don't have anything bad to say. I sat in on a class and the prof called on students, which seemed to help a lot with the gunners. The students seem laid back and really nice.

BTW, what do you hear from your Vandy friends about class availability, etc? The Vault reviews mentioned a lot of problems getting classes you want. If you have heard anything along those lines, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks.

Cutcut, I will ask about the class availability situation. For now, I can say my bf has said "I don't have one bad thing to say about Vanderbilt." Nashville is a really nice city, too.

I can't give specifics, but as someone from the SF area, I can tell you that Hasting's reputation in this regard is true.

I'll second that. I also live in SF and know a Hastings 1L who has related a couple stories to me already of what I would consider outright bullying.

I've heard from students that GW has a good student atmosphere.  There's some understandable competition b/c of the curve, but outside of that, students are reported to help each other out w/ notes, etc, when in need.  No library fiascos or the like.
