Rubbing alcohol is not ethanol, it is isopropanol.  It will not affect the brain in the same way, and, I think, is pretty harmful...though not as harmful as methanol, which causes blindness.  Not all alcohols are created equally.

That's what I meant to say, that isopropyl alcohol was used instead of ethanol so that rubbing alcohol would be undrinkable.  However, in many countries ethanol is still used as rubbing alcohol.
