Accommodation when visiting Harvard?

I'm heading to Cambridge in the spring, and had forgotten how darn expensive hotels are there.  I just don't feel like spending lots of $ checking out a law school, and I don't have my parents' budget, so I'm totally unfamiliar with the budget hotels.  I have friends I would stay with, but all of their theses are due around the days I'm going, and I am NOT going to inflict myself on them during that stressful time.  I've written to Harvard to ask for advice - do you think there's any chance there'll be some spare student accommodation?  Have any of you all been through this with other schools?

There really arn't any "budget" hotels in Cambridge, althou I've heard that the Hotel at MIT has the best rates in the area.  It's in Central Square, about 15-20 minute walk to Harvard Law School.

And you probably could find someone here who would put you up for the visit

I cannot find a cheap hotel.  This is very frustrating.  Stupid spring.

Actually, I have the same concern for stanford. since some of the ppl on this thread have been accepted to both, I figured I could quickly pop in and ask where the stanford visitors are staying in april.

Anyone?
