what is a "yield protect ding?"

When a school rejects someone with strong numbers (above its 75th percentile) to protect its "percentange of applicants who ultimately attend the law school." If a school thinks you are using it as a safety, it will try to protect its yield. I think this is a possibilty for some applicants, but not THIS early. If it is yield protection, most schools waitlist strong applicants and from there the applicant can send in info stating their intentions and that the school was being overprotective.

maybe if jumpman had a 4.0 and 180, but they sure as hell are not going to yield-protect-ding someone with a 3.3 160:  look at lsn.

I often wonder whether the question on apps about where else you applied is there for yield protection.  I know, by the way, that Miami doesn't have such a question, and that Case does (although it may be optional).

I'm going to start a thread on yield protection... I'd like to talk about this subject more.

I also call BS....and I am truly sorry if I am wrong...but I called Case last week and they told me they had yet to look at any apps that weren't ED....of course they could also be BS-ing

I haven't heard anything from whoever started this thread for a while now, so let me ask you about the conversation you had with Case.  Did they say when they intended to get to us?

It looks like someone on lawschoolnumbers.com got in Regular Decision.  All ED applicants heard by 12/20 and their decision was 12/28.

I'm pretty sure that was a deferred admit from last cycle.

I don't think so.  There was someone (janelane2) listed on there for a while that looked like a deferral from last year.  A new one (cartwright05) was added 1/08 that applied 11/01/04 that was accepted 12/28/04.

Oh, I was thinking you meant janelane2 for some reason.
