I KNEW THIS DECISION WOULD COME
« on: December 29, 2004, 12:41:06 PM »
GW PT or a fulltime program ranked close behind?!

Ive got an outside shot at fulltime at Emory and WUSTL.  Will probably get in at Tulane.  Im already in at UGA (ranked 31 I believe)...

I know prestige is important for employment opportunities and am wondering if GW really holds that much more weight when going in for job interviews.  Any thoughts.. Man Im still sooo siked about the acceptance..
ATTENDING... UGA.. GO DAWGS!!!

If I remember correctly about GW.  Their PT program allows for a "catch up" summer that lets you start the second year with the FT kids... would this be an option for you?

congrats man! i think the decision depends on if you want to attend ls ft or pt. for me, since i've been in the work force for 5 yrs, i prefer pt so i can still maintain a decent lifestyle while alleviating my debt burden. plus, pt students are usually older and more mature, so i think i'll fit into that mode better than the more competitve ft mode. of course, ft has the advantage of allowing you to focus on your study 100%. most schools allow you to transfer between the two divisions, so you should look into gw's policy on that.

personally, i like gw better than emory and wustl. it's more national, is in a better city (not only is it in dc, it's in the non-sh*tty part of dc), and has a first-rate ip program. you don't have to decide now. you're probably still high from the gw acceptance ;D, so let it sink in a little and reason it out calmly afterwards.

Mos.. thanks for the comments.. I agree.. just had a celebration lunch/drinks with my sista.. I've thought about transfering to the fulltime program, but am not sure if that is really feasible.. I mean, how many people actually do it?!

I agree that GW probably has more prestige, just wanted to see if others agreed..

Thanks..

eratfink, do you mean many people transfer from PT to FT at GULC or many people transfer from GW to GULC? ???

Well if you're wondering about job prospects and prestige, ask the school if they allow PTers to join the review boards (or if you have different or special requirements). I would also see if you are precluded from any law school organization, how you are ranked (in comparrison to PT or to FT), if you participate in a different career fair, how the summer associate program works for PT, etc.
