which is the better school in your opinion? ( i know one is in a higher tier than the other, but that could always change-- rankings are fickled)

This is really not even a question. Case is a borderline tier 1/ tier 2 school (around 50th) and Akron is 4th tier. If you get into Case, go there.

Isn't Case Western located in Cleveland? Well, if that is the case, I would say that is one more point in favor of Case Western over Akron.
