(Ex-Military) Chain-of-Command or Prof's
« on: December 27, 2004, 05:15:31 AM »
Here's a question I don't think I've seen addressed, and would be unique to us military folk. When getting recommendation letters together, would it be more favorable to have a letter from a someone who was your supervisor in your chain-of-command (Two Navy E-8's, to be exact), or a professor?

I'm asking because it'd be *far* easier for me to get the letters from my Navy supervisors before the deadline than it would for me to track down my professors from California (DLI-Monterey, to be precise).

Any advise?

It would be better if you got at least one from your co or xo and one from your school.  I wouldn't go with the E-8 approach because most adcomms are not going to understand the value of that rank.  They do however understand what a commanding officer is.
