Well congrats on the people who are getting in (GMU specifically). I was on the first waitlist and now I am on the second waitlist for GMU ( I don't know how because my LSAT is REALLY low). Is anyone else still on the GMU waitlist? I gor rejected to all my "safties" (poor planning I guess) and I still have three other schools I haven't heard from (American, Baylor, SMU). I've done all I can thus far but what sucks is that I can't even find a job to fall back on. I was so "gung-ho" on law school and didn't put much emphasis on the job search. My current school's career services department SUCKS (they only use MonsterTrak) and every place in my area (and beyond) is in a "hiring freeze." I know this is a law school forum but I am running out of options until the next round. Any advice is much appreciated (so far all I have is throwing myself off a building so anything is good advice  )

I got in off the waitlist at GMU last week.  I sent a letter to the Dean of Admissions as well as two additional LOR's.  I also toured the campus and found out I got in a few hours after my tour.  I formally accepted today.

Perhaps it was just a concidence, but submitting additional materials can't hurt!

Just to counter the last post a little: I got in off the WL at GMU too and I didn't send anything in except the reply card. Judging from Lawschoolnumbers everyone who was WL,accepted had a pretty high lsat and my guess is that GMU was looking to raise its lsat #'s. Extra material certainly can't hurt though.

Did you apply to just the fall quarter there or spring too at Baylor?  I  almost went there undergraduate and I should have applied there time or at least for the spring semester.  I moved up to the DC area with no job and quickly (two weeks) found my current job at a law office starting out as a temp-to-perm legal sec. Got move up to paralegal when I was hired full time and two years later will survive this years expensive and disastrous admissions cycle whatever the outcome. I am sure you can track some temp to perm paralegal/legal assistant position in some firm in either dallas or houston and definitely here.  I applied late and just got bumped from the mason list, but if I had planned better i would have applied to evening programs in the area, american, catholic, mason, gw, gulc and maybe I wouldn't be hanging on to this cycle by a thread.

Yeah I applied for both fall and spring. I actually went to the dean's office at Baylor Law and she pulled up my file and told me that my index number would probably not get me in at this point. Especially since they only have 80 or so seats and over 2000 applicants at this point. Baylor is sooooo picky about the law index, that it will recalibrate the LSAC UGPA by removing all pluses and minuses (ie a B+ becomes a 3.0 instead of a 3.5). I guess its working for them, they still have the highest bar passage rate each year (most of the time its 98%) and win most moot court competitions across the nation.

I did apply for a few law firms through a friend in dallas and got those wonderful "because of the down economy, we are not hiring" BS. Sucks that Im graduating and wont be getting any job with an office where I can hang my degree (or even afford to pay for the frame).  As they said in Texas during the 80's....Oil Well.
