Where should I apply?

Hi everyone,

This board is full of many people much more informed than I am about law schools and who they admit. I have a really low GPA and a semi-decent LSAT score. Am I aiming too high with my list? I have a 2.9 GPA with a B.S. in Information & Computer Science and I got a 164 on my Oct. LSAT (took the December one too but let's just assume I don't improve). Here is my list of schools:

Reach for the sky:
Fordham
UC Davis
UC Hastings

Reach for the skyscraper:
Cardozo
Loyola Marymount

Target:
Santa Clara
Univ. of San Diego
Chicago-Kent
Case Western

Safety:
Southwestern

I am mainly looking at a good IP program, but I don't even know if I will get into any of those Is it hopeless? Are there any schools you recommend I apply to? If I don't get into a top 100 school, I'd like to stay in California.

I have a buddy who had a 3.0/164 and got into Santa Clara.

GPA is not the most crucial factor at all. You have a good LSAT score, that is much more important. You'll do fine.

My guess would be that you'll likely get into Santa Clara and are probable for USD as well. 

USC and NYU are huge reaches.

mcgeorge and golden gate might be good safeties for you.

good luck, i am sure you'll get into some of the places on your list.  just make sure your personal statement is kick ass!

NYU and USC are real stretches.

Fordham...still sort of a stretch.

Decent shot at Santa Clara

I feel you're pretty solid for Chicago-Kent and USD.

Fordham, NYU, USC are super reaches- look at LSN- your GPA is way too low and your LSAT is not going to be enough to pull you up. I would think that all the other schools should be considered target schools, but would place Santa Clara in as a reach.

How is Santa Clara a reach for her?  Chiashu gives her a 55% chance with his numbers.

Hopefully she didn't apply EA because it will hurt my chances of getting in

Hehe, I'm trying to weasel in with a 158 and a 3.05... and I'll be super lucky unless they weight my engineering degree and work experience.

I've changed my list a little bit based on stats from lsac's site and chiashu but I read that chiashu isn't reliable. Is that true? And what would be the most reliable stats?

I do not know how to read Chiashu.....does this mean 90% chance?
