Quick Point of Clarification
« on: December 09, 2004, 03:44:33 PM »
How does LSDAS factor in varying credit hours?  I recently read the entire Registration packet.  While it mentioned grades, it made no mention of how staggered credit hours are treated.  If I earned an A in both a 3 credit hour course and a 5 credit hour course, would I receive 4/1 for both?  Thanks

I think that for each class they look at how many credits it is and then apply the letter grade to it. For example, if a four unit class you got an A- then it's 16 points while if another class is 3 credits and you got a B then it's worth 9 points. And then after they go through each class they just figure out your GPA.. Does this make sense?

A- = 3.67 points, though.

if you take two classes one term:

class 1 - A - 5 units
class 2 - B - 3 units

class 1 grade points = 4.0 x 5 = 20
class 2 grade points = 3.0 x 3 = 9

total grade points = 29
total units = 8

grade point average = 29/8 = 3.625
