That only works if you know that you want to go to law school early. I didn't even THINK about going to law school until October...then I started studying and took the LSAT in December and February, and then I had to scramble to get things together (had to do some research, be sure I wanted to be a lawyer, etc.)

But I agree...send it out early and you hear back much earlier.

It may be because you are borderline but if you were a borderline candidate that applied in october you would have heard back already.
If you were borderline and you applied late you probably wouldnt get in

I agree, it's very beneficial to apply early. Paradoxically, I applied in early November and have yet to hear from 4 schools and am waitlisted at 3. It's good practice to submit your apps. ASAP, but if you are in the middle of the pack, as it appears I am, your app. may be shuffled aside, thereby, diminishing any advantage you had by applying early. My track record with LS's this year can attest to this. It is not practical to apply late, but applying early does not always guarantee a prompt response.

Some schools are not actually on rolling admissions, just rolling notification.  These schools send out acceptances and rejections in waves, but they leave many apps active until they reach the final wave of letters.  It's actually possible to be "passed" over through several waves at one of these schools, and then to be let in during a later wave.  I'm not sure what schools do this though, and in general it's definitly a BIG advantage to apply early.

I had all of my stuff in over a month and a half early... and I still have yet to hear from 3 schools. USD, Santa Clara among them... so getting your stuff in earlier does not mean that one hears back early, period.
