Alumni LOR - is it worth it?
« on: December 08, 2004, 01:49:34 PM »
Hi All - I have two strong LORs, I think - haven't actually read them.  For Georgetown, I can potentially ask an alumni I use to work with to write me a LOR.  She doesn't know me that well, but I have worked with her, she know I do good work, but not sure how specific will get.

Is having an Alum write on your behalf worth asking for this extra LOR just for Gtown?  Even if it is a form/generic LOR.

I feel like it's not worth it, but any advice will help.

I would say no, especially since you already have two strong ones in the bag. The alum factor is irrelevent unless you think she can and will say something about you that have not been addressed in the first two letters.
