volunteer work

Just wondering what your take on volunteer work is?  Is it a big factor in admissions?

I've heard they do take it into account more than actual paid work (of the part time flipping burger variety)

Of course, your numbers speak the loudest, but if you are on the fence, having solid volunteer work (not babysitting neighbors' pets) will look good.
