Why do you think there will be a smaller applicant pool this year?

see (s)lobe's post above.  but that was from 2001, so it's probably not relevant anymore.  NYU said they decreased class size b/c of construction going on; columbia said they did it to increase selectivity and climb in the rankings. 

there are some schools, though, that overenrolled last year, and are trying to make up for it this year.  that's why i still e-mailed NYU about it.
