I've been curious about this issue to, given that I want to go to law school in the future. I'm graduating in a week, and in January I report to FAOBC.

FAOBC = Field Artillery Officer?  Foreign Area Officer?  I don't know the Army acronyms.

Good luck in OBC man, I nearly put off law school and gave serious thought to branching FA too......

Watchin 'em blow up sh*t that day up at Ft. Lewis was just about my favorite day at camp this summer.....well, besides graduation day  ;)

And yeah, FAOBC is "Field Artillery Officer Basic Course"

Thanks. I was at NALC 2003, and pulling the lanyard on the howitzer was one of the best experiences of my life. Out of curiosity, did anyone pass out during your graduation?

Hahaha, yeah a couple actually...........I sincerely hope thats the longest parade I'm ever in (though somehow I know it won't be), a full hour of standing at attention/parade rest........completely stupid.

All for maybe a dozen families who were watching their kids graduate..... ???

Under the federal TA program as an "active" drilling member of the Guard/Reserve you can get up to $4500 a year for any school, by submitting a DA 2171 through your unit.

If paying for school is more important than entering AD, you may want to consider submitting a DA 4187 to cancel your ED delay and enter the National Guard. Most states offer pretty good post-grad education benefits; out of state fee waivers, reduced tuition and tuition assitance beyond the federal TA program.

Depending on state you could get most if not all your tuition paid for.

But then you open yourself up to having your OBC, drills and above all deployments interfering with your law school plans.

George Mason?  If the Army will let you go to school part-time, George Washington may be an option, but I don't think you have the #s for full-time.

Congrats on the FLEP, I've heard that's really tough to get these days.
