OK - I had a professor of mine that is supposedly intelligent and insightful write me a recommendation. I was under the impression that he was going to write me a great recommendation, however, the recommendation ended up being mediocre (he just showed it to me tonight). I'm pretty sure he already sent it in to LSAC, so it's kind of too late.
It's not negative or anything. It doesn't say anything bad about me. Quite the contrary, it speaks very highly of me. It's just extremely short (only a half page) and way too general. All around - it's just not great, and not what I expected at all (I could type it out here if you really want me to). I have two other recommendations from other professors, and I'm sure they are much better. I was counting on great recommendations, and I still might have great recommendations, with the exception of this one (they haven't showed me what they wrote). I knew there was something wrong when he told me he did five recommendations in one day!
I know a few schools I am applying to only want two recommendations, and I can list the two other recommenders on the app so that they'll only request the recs from those two. In addition, this LOR (the bad one) has not been processed yet, which is good. I've already applied to one school so I'm thinking they won't see it. I'm applying to a few more this weekend so I'm hoping the LOR won't be processed by then (I better hurry up and get my apps out).
Is there anything else I can do to keep the schools from seeing this recommendation?
