UC Davis

I'm feefing kind of drawn to UC Davis for law school. Does anyone have any opinions?I havent heard much about this school, but their stats seem ok, an employment rate in the 80% range and median salary of 72,000.

but more us davis students end up employed.
that makes me sad because it sounds like a nice place to go to law school

Not being an SF guy, rather hit Sacramento/Tahoe area.  King Hall is my first choice, but is a pretty hefty reach for me.  Tuition is up another 10% at U.C., still beats the massive program at Hastings in my opinion!

lol. I was just kidding - 78 k is great! I was just making a statement about I thought it was strange that the lower-ranked school has better salaries coming out. I guess it was just a compliment for USF, if anything.

What are some good options if you want to hit up the Tahoe area? I would think any solid Northern CA. school should do the trick. I'm not sure if there are even any schools up in Sac.

damn I was really sad for a second there.
The only other schools whos career numbers I have seen are berkeley and USC which both have starting salaries of over 100,000 so i thought maybe you were right! I'm obviously not good at picking up computer sarcasm

davis is only a 15 min drive from sac

Davis' tuition is the only one that didn't make me light headed when I saw it. That is one reason why it is my current top pick. I want to go to a good school but I don't want to have student debt so large that I will be paying on it until I die.

Davis is ranked # 33 on the US News list...but i really have no idea how prestigious it is.

The law school definitely has a great prestige level in Northern CA. It's comparable to UC Hastings, which is also considered very good.

I think a lot of people with very good numbers apply to public's like Davis for tuition purposes, so I would assume admissions is very competitive. It is probably very hard to get in.

Even with it's prestige factor, it might not be a bad idea to go to a lower-ranked school in the area like USF or Santa Clara, both of which have higher starting salaries.

UOP McGeorge is in Sac/Tahoe area...3rd tier and expensive!  Davis is a great little town...ten years of SF commute was enough for me.  Santa Clara is nice, close friend is a Hastings grad...intellectual property.  Tons of dough, no life!

Yeah, Tahoe would be great. Although I don't know there are a lot of jobs out there, man? I was up there a couple months ago, and did see a lot of little private law offices up by the main street in south lake though. very cozy area - too bad the cost of living is insane there now.
