The companies that are the prime purchasers of computer software will not buy a software package if the costs of training staff to use it are high, and we know that it is expensive to teach people a software package that demands the memorization of unfamiliar commands. As a result, to be successful, commercial computer software cannot require users to memorize unfamiliar commands.

The conclusion above follows logically if which one of the following is assumed?

The answer is C) Commercial computer software will not be successful unless prime purchasers buy it.

After some work I diagramed it like this:

E---> ~B

M---> E

M---> ~B
____________

C: ~M--->S

Missing assumption (S---> B)

so you get E---> ~B
M---> E
S---> B
B---> ~M
_____________

~M---> S

Does this seem right?

i did it like this:

cost high --> ~prime purchase
memorize --> cost high
----------------------
memorize ---> ~prime purchase

ASSUMPTION: ~prime purchase ---> ~successful
-----------------------------
successful --> ~memorize

the answer is given as the contrapositive of the assumption i gave:
successful --> prime purchase

E--~B
M--E
; so M--~B is inferred

Then, conclusion says:S--~M=contra-M--~S
Let's combine them together:M---~B
M----~S
so ~S---~B.
Why ~S---~B?  find out the question type. Is it assumption?
I do not think so.
