Am I an auto reject at Duke?!
« on: November 14, 2004, 09:18:42 PM »
I just noticed the 25/75 breakdown for duke is 162/169...

with a 3.96/161 with lots of good honors - but as a White male - do you think i'm an auto-reject?

I don't think you're an auto-reject.  From what I've read, schools with a wide 25/75 LSAT spread tend to be less into LSAT whoring.  Duke falls into that category.  Schools like Cornell, where the spread is only three points, are trying to increase their LSAT scores, and thereby increase their ranking.  At Duke, you definitely have a shot...especially with such a stellar GPA!

Last year, 325 people applied to Duke with above a 3.75 GPA and between a 160 - 164 LSAT score.  Only 33 got accepted.

If you ask me, those chances are TOTALLY worth the application fee.  How many people with a 3.75+ GPA had a 3.96....not many.  I'm not sure you're a shoe-in, but you have a shot!  Good Luck!

Yeah, man. You're an automatic reject. Loser. Go make a living selling cheeseburgers. Can't get into Duke Law? You're a hapless failure.

That's so cute!  Time for a martini.  Oh what the hell; every post is an occasion for a martini.

I think you have a good chance. I think auto-rejects are only those who far clearly below both the LSAT AND GPA 25ths. If you're in the same score band, I don't see how they could possibly consider you an auto-reject. Congrats on such a great GPA (and a great LSAT)!
