I have to say, it sounds pretty ridiculous to me for a professor of an introductory level political science class to figure that his students will just look stuff up on their own.  I mean, yeah, we could all just look stuff up on our own.  In any class.  Who needs school anyway?  Let's all just look stuff up on our own and not bother to actually get credit for courses in which we are supposed to learn nuts and bolts.
Obviously I'm not blaming you for this, as you were not the prof.  But that just seems terrible.

julie agree.  good program makes students do reading, whatever else happens in class.

julie figures 1/3 or so of class should be prof reinforcing and clarifying assigned readings, another 1/3 or so of prof adding own information and linking it to othe phenomena, and final 1/3 or so that takes on whatever students want to discuss within scope of class (which is more application of that information to real-world problems).

sorry if your school has loser poli sci program, or econ, for that matter.

Sorry that you concider something that is easy to be difficult.  Many people concider econ to be a very challenging program, which it is if you mind doing a minimal amount of work.  Many people do mind.

And isn't a bit pompous to say how one prof teaches is wrong based on such little information.  We did read a lot, but it wasn't the school house rock bs.

"No wait, nevermind.  I'm sure if you needed to know that you'd just look it up on your own." ;)
Sorry.  I really mean no offense!  It was just too easy.

I'll keep that in mind when you ask me for a job.  Sorry you are not smart enough to think that poli sci is easy; why do you think so many pre-law students that only care about a high GPA study poli sci.  Because its a good backup plan if LS doesn't work out?
