I think a thank you card should be sufficient. Here's what I plan to do. I already sent thank you cards to my recommenders after LSAC processed them. After this whole process is over, I'll probably think about sending a small gift as an extra gesture of appreciation, especially if I get into some of my reach schools.

Good question! I am sending my official thank-yous to coincide with Thanksgiving. Hokey? Well sure, but it makes it seem a little less gratuitous if they weren't expecting anything. Wine for one recommender, Bailey's for the other. The a note if/when I get in.
