Maybe other people have experienced this as well --- my degree granting institution GPA is 3.49, however my overall GPA as calulated by LSDAS is much lower.  Do law schools look at both?  I hope so!  My first two years at community college didn't go so well, I had a lot family stuff going on.  However, once I transferred I did very well.  Does this matter at all to law schools?

I am in the same boat and have been told that yes they do look at the application with the "whole man/woman concept.  It is certainly something that needs to be addressed in your personal statement.  My Degree Granting GPA is 3.75 but total UG GPA is around 2.7.  However, the grades that lower it are from 30 years ago.  The law schools are all number whores to a certain extent though.  They like to keep their averages up.  I would think that with a decent LSAT you will be able to get into some reasonable schools.  At least that is what I have been told.  We'll see and good luck!
