IF you don't want to go to law school unless it's a tier 1 or 2, that's one thing.

That's the thing, I want only to go to the ones I am applying to and nowhere else.

I don't only have reaches, I do have a target and it's a Tier 3 Stetson.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let the competition begin.   ;D

If that's the case, then what was the purpose of your original post?  You clearly aren't interested in the advice you've been given so why ask?  If you want affirmation, call your mother.

this thread sucks my nuts.

floridalaw, check out the usnews world report, chiashu, lawschoolnumbers, and the lsac calculator to gauge what would be considered your stretches, targets, and safties based on your numbers and nothing else (except perhaps lsn which gives users the opportunity to elaborate on their extras).

What I meant was, I am only interested in my list of schools or schools with similiar rank. The purpose of this post is whether I should apply to more schools similiar to my list.  Hope that clear things up.

FlordiaLaw, I dont see why youre paranoid about posting your real numbers.  Since law school is mainly about numbers, it doesnt make any sense to ask questions about scores you dont even have.

Everyone here is just being realistic about applying to safeties.  If you really want to go to law school and have mediocre numbers, its the smart thing to do.  So no, I dont think you should apply to schools with similar rankings.  T3s and T4s.

Eileen, well said. I hate threads that ask for advice and when they get it, then they argue with the people who give them the advice because that's not what they want to hear.

FLORIDALAW, you never answers my question regarding Miami. What's up with it's low employment rate (according to you)?

Not according to me, but according to US News.  Its employement rate 9 months after graduation is 89%, while for UF, FSU, and Stetson are 97%, 96.7%, and 97.5% respectively.

By any chance, do you know what the starting salaries are for each of those schools in Florida?

By any chance, do you know what the starting salaries are for each of those schools in Florida?

Here are the Mid-Range Figures for Private Sector:

Florida State: $45,000 - $72,000
UF: $51,500 - $72,000
UM: $60,000 - $105,000
Stetson: $50,000 - $72,000

I guess if you do well at UM, you'll be rewarded well.  But, also remember the extra debt that you might carry compare to other schools.

Hope that helps.

Florida,
I think you should take those employment stats with a grain of salt. I have heard that many schools report "false" numbers in that they report all employed graduates, and not necessarily only those employed in full-time law jobs. So watch out! The best way to know which school is best for employment purposes is to research firms where you might want to work and call them and ask where their last associate class came from, and then see how many students come from each school.

I have always heard that Miami is pretty good for employment, including spreading to other areas in the southeast, like Atlanta. It seems to have a very well-respected program. Course, maybe I'm biased cause it's the one school I've gotten into so far...but from the salaries, the UM grads seem to be the ones that are landing the biglaw jobs.
