I miss Firefox.  I have to use IE now so that I can try to solve this stupid IE logout problem.  Looking forward to going back.

I still use Netscape, and every once in awhile I run into sites that just won't operate with netscape.  It's hard to tell if it's netscape or my connection, but since I have been using Netscape for so long, I blame it last.  Anybody using firefox ever run into a problem where a site won't work properly, or only works for IE?
And the sign said "Long-haired freaky people need not apply" So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why. He said "You look like a fine outstanding young man, I think you'll do.  So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that. Huh! Me workin' for you!"Sign, sign, everywhere a sign..

Most sites look the same or even a little better (I like Firefox's version of dotted borders better than IE's), but I have seen a couple non-compliant sites.  The one that surprises me the most is Yahoo maps (or was it Mapquest?).  They might have fixed it but the map used to appear way way off to the side.

What I like most about Firefox are the plugins - you can customize it however you want.  I also like the keyboard navigation - you can type the text of a link instead of using the mouse.

My ode to Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/firefox)

There are an infinite number of extensions to Firefox, which really extend its power.  I have a Gmail plugin that automatically checks my Gmail account and notifies me of new mail.  My weather plugin pops up with weather forecast updates and has current conditions and the next few days' weather in the bottom corner.  You can add search engines to the built in search area--things like eBay, Wikipedia (one of my absolute FAVES), search the Bible, et al).  There's an extension called myTunes that allows you to control iTunes, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer et al right from within Firefox.  There's also an extension to not just automatically detect embedded RSS feeds (that's built in), but one that provides a button to feed that RSS feed link directly into your feed reader for creating a new feed entry.  Or, you can subscribe to RSS feeds and view them as they update DYNAMICALLY within Firefox's bookmarks. I use FeedDemon to read my feeds (LDS included or I'd never have the energy to continually check what's new manually).

Tabbed browsing deserves its own paragraph because it is the single best new browser functionality of the last five years.  I can have three, four, or any number of pages open simultaneously and just switch back and forth between them--all within the same window.  If I want to have three different home pages, all of which I check at startup, add a "|" between URLs in the start page field and it will open all of them in separate tabs.  Or, select a bookmark group and have all of them open in tabs whenever you like.

Alright, I'll end this evangelical tract for Firefox.  But seriously, if you're on the web much at all, and I know us LSDers are, it's the best thing out there.  And for all you grass roots, change the world, stick it to the man liberals out there, it's completely open source and is gathering steam from volunteers and people like me who've fallen in love.  If only I could find a girl this perfect... Jayhawkgirl, even though you got my name wrong...?

I hope this is of interest to the general thread...  :P

Go to Tools-->Options-->General.  In the home page field, enter any and all URLs you want to open simultaneously, in tabs, on startup, separated by the "pipe" symbol,"|".  It's located right above enter, just shift to get it.  I get virtually all my news and info via RSS, so I don't have many tabs open w/ Firefox--otherwise I'd probably have several.  Here's mine, as an example:

http://my.yahoo.com|http://cnn.com|http://espn.go.com|http://gmail.google.com/gmail

Hope that was coherent and of help, Ms. I Change My Avatar Daily.
