A sincere, compelling and well-written PS on this topic is not trite. A manipulative, whiny   or clumsy PS on this topic is trite.

The subject isn't nearly as big of a consideration as the writing on said subject.

If you have personal examples of predjudice that resulted in documentable habit and outcome changes for your life, write about that, making sure to focus on the habit and outcome changes in your life as a result, not the predjudice.

If you want to write about generically overcoming racial predjudice, then it's not a terribly personal personal statement

If you have a real experience that you can communicate about being the subject of racial prejudice then I dont think there is anything trite about that.
