1.5 spacing on PS?

1.5 spacing on PS?
« on: October 20, 2004, 10:52:20 AM »
My PS is just under 3 pages. Some of the schools i am applying to says 2-3 pages others 1,200 words. I should be cool for those, but what about the ones that want 2 pages? Would it look bad if i used a smaller (less than 12) point font and maybe 1.5 spacing. I really dont want to cut anything out, but i want to follow the rules to. Im sure others have had the same problem and was looking for some advice.

Using anything smaller than 11.5 or 11 font probably isn't advisable, depending on the font you used, especially if you're changing the spacing.

I think I used either 11.5 or 12, and 1.5 spacing.  (I hate doublespaced.  It's such a waste of space.)

If it didn't ask for double spacing, I went with 1.5 just cause I think it looks way better and makes it on some wierd level easier to follow a story than double spacing.

Call me crazy, but 1.75 pages of 1.5 spacing reads like a much more cogent work than the same thing printed at double spacing.

I would just revise and keep it double spaced, 12 font.

i dont think there is anything wrong with 1.5 spacing (i used it unless the school specified that it wanted double spaced), but going smaller than 12 font in tandem with 1.5 spacing is getting a little risky.  I would 1.5 space and try to cut down.

mine is 1.5 spacing as well, and i have it at 11-point font.  it's exactly 2 pages when formatted that way.  i think it looks fine.  the only problem is harvard, who wants double-spaced and 2 pages.  bleh.
