some of these law schools, such as penn, nyu, require suppl. essays explaining what you were doing if had a yr off during undergad studies and/or "any additional info that could help committee."  if places like columbia etc... dont mention this, then should you def. not include it, or is it ok to include it?  (not a whole other essay, just 2 short paragraphs).

amelus, I am currently in school so I didn't look carefully at that.  However, I wouldn't worry about submitting it.  The application usually offers to let you include any other information that might be helpful, and I know specifically that Columbia welcomes them.  It's just that I'm a pretty traditional candidate (in college, no extreme hardship worth an addendum, nothing really out of the ordinary on my record), so I'm hoping my application will be enough.
