PS advice -- specific examles vs. general

For a personal statement, would it be better to provide one or a couple of more in-depth examples about personal achievement, or stick with explaining achievements in more general terms. 

For example, talking about leadership position in a campus organization -- would it be better to talk about general achievements, i.e.

"As president of the Environmental club, I have helped to organize numerous lectures on environmentalism, and doubled membership through aggressive outreach and advertising.  I have also helped to raise over $500 for my club through fund-raisers such as bake-sales and benefit concerts."

OR, go in depth... (in addition to above)

"One of my most successful events was a benefit concert I helped organize. As we were a new campus organization with no money, figuring out how to put on a concert without a budget proved extremely challenging. Using connections that our members had, we pulled together a line-up of local artists... " and go into how I helped to put together the one specific event.
