Have you heard from UCLA, UC Hastings, or USC lately?
« on: March 25, 2004, 02:33:30 PM »
I am still waiting by my mailbox hoping to hear from UCLA, UC Hastings, & USC.  My applications were completed in November.  Aside from postcards telling me my applications were complete, I have received no other communications.  My numbers are: 3.33 GPA from UCSB, 162 & 166 LSAT.  I have also been working for the last ten years at a biotech company.  Anyone else still waiting like me?

I am waiting on Hastings. Status check doesn't show any updates since mid-feb. LSAT: 158/168, GPA: 3.4.

I'm waiting for all 3 schools as well.  According to Hastings' admission status page, they've already reached a decision.  I live across the Bay (Berkeley) and I can't imagine mail taking that long to get here.

As for USC and UCLA, my boyfriend's roommate applied to both law schools last year.  He didn't hear anything from UCLA until summer (late May I think).  He didn't hear anything from USC 'til mid to late April either.  I would be frustrated too if I didn't get into my first choice already!

I don't understand why UCLA's admission is so inconsiderate!  I'm sure they realize many students have to make decisions early April.  I wonder if UCLA losses out on top applicants (applicants who would have chosen UCLA over another school if UCLA didn't send their responses extremely late)!

Goodluck everyone!

I must add, USC and UCLA's respective law school website are horrible.
I am thanking my lucky stars that I got into Boalt Hall!  Three more years in Berkeley.

I guess there is comfort in knowing that I am not alone.

Cal4ever, did your boyfriend's roommate receive positive news from those schools.  Do you know what his numbers were?

Thanks everyone & good luck.  Hope to see you all on campus whereever it may be in August.

My bf's roomate got into USC and I think he was waitlisted at UCLA.  I'm not absolutely sure about his numbers.  So, I'm just guessing.  He (my bf's roommate) graduated from UC Berkeley with around a 3.5.  He took his LSAT twice, I think it averaged around 165 or a little higher.  I'm sorry, I know that doesn't help much.  He eventually got into UPenn and that's where he's at right now.

And don't worry  He got rejected from school after school.  At one point he was choosing between Hastings or USC.  Then, out of nowhere, he got into UPenn.

I also got rejected from one school after another (first Columbia, then Michigan, then Stanford, then Fordham!?!?), then I got into my first choice school (Boalt).  So, go figure.  There are so many qualified applicants applying that law schools have to figure out who stands apart from all the highly qualified applicants.  I can only imagine how competitive it's going to be next year, since the economy doesn't look like it's getting any better (regardless of what Greenspan says).

Goodluck to you! :)

I was going crazy waiting on USC but then I remembered my friend who applied there 2 years ago and went complete approx Dec. 1, 2001 was accepted via telephone 4/20/2002.  I'm a bit more relaxed now, well at least until the 20th.

My brother is a dental student at USC. I wonder if that would have helped with the admit? Probably not as he hasn't even graduated yet.

They average LSATs which puts me at a big disadvantage. Still, maybe I should have applied.

158/168, 3.4 GPA.

WTF?!  I got rejected from Hastings but I got in at Boalt!   That just goes to show you that you can't predict who's going to get in where.  I must say this year's admission standards are all weird!!

Oh well.  Gotta love Boalt Hall for not just looking at numbers! Funny though, since my grades are around Hastings' 75th percentile, and LSAT are on their 25% percentile.  On top of that I had 2 strong letters of rec. and a strong personal statement.  Ah who cares... I guess I'm just surprised.

I'm still waiting for all three of those schools to make a decision.  I also haven't heard a thing from Davis or Stanford.  (I had expected to receive my rejection letter from Stanford weeks ago.)

I also got into Boalt, and my plan is to withdraw apps from all those indicisive schools as soon as I get back from Boalt's Admitted Law Students Day. (Assuming I continue to be as impressed as I am right now.)

I definitely think that "numbers" are a poor predictor.  If I went on numbers alone, I wouldn't have even applied to Boalt.  I agree with Cal4ever (my future classmate, I hope) that this year has definitely has its surprises.  I have no rejections so far, but I got waitlisted at Wake Forest (# 36 on US News). Strage to see that paired with an acceptance to a top 10 school.  Oh, well, I'm not complaining!  ;D
