GPA Addendum Q's

Ok, so here it goes:

My 1st semester freshman year I got a 3.22
My 2nd semester freshman year I got a 3.02

Every semester since I've had between a 3.7 and a 4.0.  My Cum UGPA is now a 3.59

The reason that my grades were so low frosh year were because I had a serious family problem occur 1st semester and then a friend die 2nd semester right before midterms (of course drinking and partying and adjusting had something to do with it, but i think i'll leave that out).  As you can see I've done much better since.

So my question is, does this merit an addendum?  or is it noticeable enough to not require an explanation?  If I do write an addendum, how far into detail do I have to go?  Thanks for your help!

Include one that is short and simple, detailing the lost of friend and family problems.  Leave out drinking problem.  The adcomm will most likely look at your last two years gpa in your transcript.
