my thoughts on the second debate
« on: October 11, 2004, 08:49:41 AM »
-- What the hell happened to Bush between the first debate and the second? I continue to disagree with just about everything he says, of course, but I commend him on his vastly improved performance.

-- Kerry talks about whatever he wants rather than addressing the specific questions far too often.

-- Favorite GWB moments:
(1) calling Kerry "Kennedy"
(2) "Need some wood?" (a genuinely funny thing to say)
(3) if my opponent had his way, Saddam Hussein would still be in power and the world would be better off

-- Does Bush listen to what Kerry says or just his pre-established talking points? I'm thinking specifically of the "partial-birth abortion" topic.

-- Approximately a draw, I thought, assuming substantive contribution is not one of the criteria.

-- If Kerry stopped saying over and over that he has a plan, he would have far more time to tell people the contents of the plan. Oy.

-- I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the questions.
