I do think Bush did a great job of neutralizing and trivializing Kerry's contentions, just by being folksy. For my money, "need some wood?" was classic, and will go down in history with "I won't hold my opponent's youth and inexperience against him" and "you, sir, are no Jack Kennedy." That was a real zinger that just really connected, regardless of the truth or error of what Kerry was talking about before. Because as soon as Bush said "Need some wood", Kerry's entire tirade against people posing as small business owners became irrelevant. ZAP
