My personal statement at the moment is kind of a combination of two topics (1) why law school and (2) a significant life experience. This makes it a bit longer than I expected (3 pages double spaced). Now some applications give no guidelines at all as to length, such as Michigan who only asks for double spacing and 11 pt font, or W&L who gives no specifications at all regarding length/spacing/font. Others such as Emory say only "two typed pages" and UIUC says two typed, doubled spaced pages (approx 600 words).
For those schools with less specific reqs is it implied that it'll be 2 pages double spaced? Or can I go ahead and send in 2 pages single spaced for somewhere such as Emory who only specifies two typed pages, and 3 pages double spaced for Michigan who doesn't specify length?
Edit: Edited b/c I made a mistake it's emory not vanderbilt who says two typed pages.
