what is this? when someone is a minority? i can't believe thats possible, all because im white some other people get an advantage to get into law school because their skin color is different?

a URM is an *underrepresented minority*  So not all minorities count as URM.  For example, Asians are overrepresented in higher education, so for law school, they are not a URM.

And yes, some people of underrepresented (read: under privileged) races get some preference.  See all of the other AA threads floating around this board.
