Virginia "Preferred" Waitlist

Well, after submitting my application back in early November, I finally got a response from UVA; I'm on their preferred waitlist. They say that I can request an interview. Well, they're damn right that I'm going to. Couple quick questions:

How good are my odds of being admitted off the preferred waitlist as opposed to a regular waitlist?

Are interviews only going to be on campus, or would it be possible to do it over the phone or with an alum (I'm in Boston and don't REALLY want to spend a day flying for a 20 minute interview).

If you really want to go to UVA I would fly down there. It just shows how much you want it and that is something they'll consider when going to their waitlist.

OP, I'm in the same boat as you...waited since late Oct. to hear I'm on the priority WL.  I'm gonna call their Admissions Office tomorrow and see what's up.  I'll post the results when I get them...but I feel pretty certain I'm gonna make the flight to Charlottesville to plead my case before the Cavalier jury.

Same here, applied in November and didn't hear anything until last Thursday.  Scheduled my interview for next week.  If it helps, my friend got regular waitlisted last year and got in mid-summer despite never visiting or sending any supplemental info.
