I'm reading a lot on here about BC being so much better than BU for jobs in Boston. I don't get this when BU is significantly higher than BC in the rankings and in other stats as well (salaries, LSAT scores, and gpa's). I'm so confused!

Rankings become more irrelevant if both schools are ranked high. BC has a great reputation, as does BU law. The difference is not that important, firms hire people not numbers.

There was a good post on here a while ago that pointed out Boston has two tiers

T1: Harvard.....BC.BU
T2: NEU..Suffolk..NESL

I think its more like 6 tiers.

1. Harvard
2. T14 students with Boston connections
3. BC/BU
4. T14 students without Boston connections
5. NESL et al
6. TTTs not in Boston

I wouldn't call it significant distance between BU and BC in numbers:

BU: 21 3.51-3.81 164-166 (median is 165 I believe)
BC: 26 3.44-3.78 162-165 (median is 164 I believe)

nealric seems on point with his 6 tiers though.

I also wouldn't worry about "a lot on here about BC being so much better than BU for jobs in Boston."  Most of those comments were made either years ago and/or by same two or three people beating the same drum in different threads.

Ranking and all that aside, there is really very little difference between BU and BC in all material respects.  The BC campus is a lot nicer though (but in my opinion off-set by BU's proximity to the city).

I like how, no matter what region we're talking about, LSD'ers can break it down into ranks at the drop of a hat :)

man, what are you talking about here?
"significantly" higher?  a big fan of hyperbole, are we? ... There is barely any reputation difference between schools rankes 20-30.  And what is this about better salaries?  Last I checked BC placed better in the 250 largest firms in the US, so I don't really know where you are getting your info.
BC is more highly regarded in Boston because BU has only been this highly regarded for less than a decade.  BU used to have twice the number of students and didn't touch BC in terms of prestige.  Now they are the same, in ANY market, not just Boston.  Don't do yourself the disservice of believing the US News rankings are a completely true indication of the reputation of a school.

yeah, like other people have said, BU is not ranked "significantly" higher than BC. The two schools' rank flip flop all the time. A few years back, BC was ranked higher than BU. http://www.eagleionline.com/news/2008/4/2/bcls-rankings-in-perspective.html

So employers generally equate the two schools...
