LSDAS --> Canadian college
« on: October 04, 2004, 08:35:35 PM »
I'm finishing my last two years of my undergrad at SFU (Simon Fraser University), however I completed my first two years at Kwantlen College (a local community college in Vancouver). Will the LSDAS lower my college GPA, as result of it being easier to get higher grades in college? What about university, will they scale those up or down?

Thanks again  :)

EDIT - I guess, I also need to know if Canadian students even need to use the LSDAS like the Americans do

LSAC won't scale anything ...

the just basically sum everything up and take an average to get your GPA.  Schools might adjust if they think they need to, but LSAC won't for sure.

You only need to send transcripts to LSAC if you want to apply to US schools.  The other thing is, you have to make sure Kwantlen is accepted by LSAC.  You can do this by checking there list of schools, (I forget where but it's on the main LSAC page in one of those drop down lists on the side) or by just calling LSAC and asking them about it.  If it's not accepted, then you have to send those transcripts directly to the schools you apply too.  But before you do that, make sure you call the school and tell them what you're doing and they will give you advice.

I forgot to mention ...

I've been contacted by few schools that really want International students (especially ones from Canada).  I'll look for there letters and tell you which ones they were.  They were ranked a bit lower in the US rankings but I think you could get into some them with your numbers.

Actually, I was really impressed with one of them.  I can't remember the name though ... but their whole application was catered to Canadian applicants and they profiled Canadians that were attending the school.  Maybe somebody else knows what school I'm talking about?

as promised ...

the school i was talking about was "western new england college of law".  Their website is www.law.wnec.edu.  I know nothing about them, but they are ABA accredited.  Their brouchure was titled "Think outside the border" and it features students from Queens, UNB, and Andrews University.

for the OP's numbers, it still looks like a target though.
