Big Ten- Northwestern, Michigan
Pac Ten- Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, USC
ACC- Duke, Virginia
Big 12- Texas
SEC- Vanderbilt
Big East-?

Big Ten- Northwestern, Michigan
Pac Ten- Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, USC
ACC- Duke, Virginia
Big 12- Texas
SEC- Vanderbilt
Big East-?

NO!  It's not just about the top 20...Besides NW(9) and UM(9), the Big Ten has several excellent schools: Minnesota(22), Illinois(27), Iowa(27),  Ohio State(32), Indiana-B(36) and Wisconsin(36), and also some solid T2's such as Indiana-I(68) and Penn State(77).  Michigan State is the only one that's not so good, but even it is an upper tier 3 school in the new rankings.

I didn't count, but I'm guessing 8 out of the top 36 is not matched by any other conference.

True. If it's top 40 or so, Big Ten probably is the winner.

Don't forget UW at 30th and UA at 38th for the Pac-10.  Going all the way to the top 100, we find ASU at 52nd and Oregon at 82nd.

A better comparison might be to add up the total point scores of the schools.
