Do these schools have more than regional appeal?

Is it easy to find jobs in NY or DC coming out of: UNC, Emory, Boston U?

I fear the answer is no.

Nothing is easy once you start law school.

BU does well in NYC (top 35-40% get BIGLAW interviews)

Emory does pretty well in NYC/DC (top 25-30% get BIGLAW interviews in DC/NYC)

UNC does worse than both schools in both cities, but instate could be tempting.

The answer is not really. None of the schools do very well in DC, so you would need to be around top 15% to have a good shot at BigLaw.

Emory and BU do pretty well in NY. Top 25% (maybe even top 1/3 for BU) should give you a decent shot at NY BigLaw.

Apparently, Emory places well in the South East and in Chicago. At least that's what their "promo alumnus" told me on the phone. Since I've decided not to go there though, I didn't bother investigating further.

As for BU and UNC, I have no idea.

BU places well in both NY and DC. I'd say BU's biggest markets outside of Boston are NYC, Philly and DC. I'm also suprised at the number of 1Ls this year from CA that are planning on going back to practice in LA and SF.

According to Martindale, BU has 6 associates in Philly with 5 years or less experience. Placing one associate per year in Philly is not so great.
