Fastest to T1 and T2?
« on: March 28, 2008, 11:02:00 AM »
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some information about the number of years it took schools to jump Tiers since their inception?  Any schools Tier 4 to Tier 3 in 1O years?  ( I hear FIU and Chapman have done it)  Tier 3 to Tier 1 (no idea what schools here)?  Thanks

Quinnipiac as only been accredited since the mid 90s.  They were T4 until only the last few years, not sure when exactly they became T3...

Edit: Quinnipiac moved into the third tier as of 2006 (the 2007 rankings).

This web site has some interesting numbers, though it focuses mostly on the top 40.

Chapman opened in '95 I believe (maybe '96??) and was a T3 this year...

Its anyone's guess where UC Irvine will start out next year but its my guess that they will climb to T1 quickly...

And they are already up to 108 from 116 last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they hit 2nd Tier within the next few years... but to be fair, Quinnipiac didn't just start in the 90s... it was University of Bridgport Law School for years before then.... it just didn't switch to the Quinnipiac campus or take the Quinnipiac name etc. until it was bought in the 90's... interesting thing is it is the first law school to switch like that without any interruption in the accrediation process

I'll second George Mason.  Was tier 3 only about a decade ago.

WUSTL has risen very quickly in the last decade as well.
