Georgetown is just huge! (not really)

Entering class full time is 459 students. NYU's is 450.

The only difference is Georgetown's part-time program, which has 130 more students.

going in doesn't really matter all that much, coming out of g-town however you will be competing with about 600 students as opposed to NYU's 450.

Either way you are competing against the same 50k new lawyers that graduate per year.

Not entirely true.  If you are looking at full time students you are competing against about 550 at GULC compared to about 510 at NYU.

Firms do not set their quotas by school, but by need. (i.e. "We need 20 SAs for this summer." They don't say "we need 2 GULC SAs this summer")
You are competing against all 50k 2L's in the U.S.

That seems a bit extreme; most firms seem to want a diverse pool of SAs from a number of the top schools (at least, one can assume this, based upon the diverse alma maters of new/young associates at firms)...they may not put a "quota" per se on a school, but you can bet they'd probably take one or two from each, all else being equal, rather than take 8 from one school and none from two others.

Of course, to some extent they have an idea of how many they usually need from a certain school. However, when it comes time to give offers, the (subjective) quality of the individual candidates are going have a far greater weight.
