This is my first post but I have been lurking since I began studying for the LSAT. I applied to Florida in October and got my acceptance in the mail. I noticed that a few people have gotten them in the mail and this probably concerns their proximity to UF (I live about 5 blocks from the Law School as well). My index number is a 5.7 which looks like might be the cut-off this year but this is just speculation on my part. We will see a more complete picture in the next couple of days. Good luck to everyone waiting on news from FL this weekend I know it is very hard. This has been a really frustrating process for me personally and am very happy it is over.

Believe me... 5.7 is not the cut off. I've had three friends get in last month, one had a 5.6 index, the other had what I assume was either a 5.4 or 5.5... the last one had such a low LSAT and GPA that I was amazed he got in. He's a URM, but we're talking a 147 LSAT and borderline 3.0 GPA.

Regardless of what happens to each of us individually, don't think that UF hasn't admitted lower stats this year, because they have.

I agree with CoupDeGlace.  I think UF values diversity in their incoming class.  They've already taken some below 5.7, and I expect they will take more before it is over with.  Somebody has to fill out that bottom 25%.

I'm a 5.7, but I'm a bigtime splitter.  I applied in October and haven't heard back yet.  I'm very nervous going into next week.  UF is my top choice.
To put it bluntly, I seem to have a whole superstructure with no foundation. But I`m working on the foundation.

I haven't been a poster on this board, but I have been checking this board to get my info.  Thought you would like to know that UF is sending out decisions.  I live 5 blocks from the school and got my acceptance today (applied way back on Nov. 5th).  Good luck to everyone on the board!

Congrats!!
and Good luck to everyone!

I am not disputing any of your facts or sources, I am sure there are individuals with huge soft factors that bring a diverse aspect into the entering class of UF and for sure they deserve the seats that they have been given but my reference was towards the more run-of-the-mill applicant. Just by looking at LSN and speaking with the people that I know, it seems like UF has been slow to act on 5.7's in general. Law school applications are such a complicated  process that saying that because UF has admitted index numbers below 5.7's means that they will admit everyone with similar index numbers is a dangerous path to go down.
