Anybody care to discuss the OSU Moritz College of Law? It appears to be one of the least discussed T1 school on this board.

LOL I went decision there on 03/04 and I'm still awaiting my letter.

One of the things I love about their status checker is how it says for privacy reasons they send decisions via mail. Yet, to log into the privacy checker you need your SSN. If someone had my SSN, I think the last thing I'd be worrying about would be if they'd be able to see my admissions decision at OSU... but that's me.

In any case, I'm not expecting much. I'd love to get in, but I don't know what to think. The decisions that they made that day were a mix of acceptances and rejects. But having gone this long with no letter is crazy. Yet even if it was a ding, I'd imagine that sending a ding letter doesn't take 2 weeks. Which is why if it is a ding it'll irritate me, not because it was a ding, but because it took so long.  :D

I find one statistic very curious about OSU.  A number of sources list its average starting private sector salary at $60,000.  This seems extremely low.  For example, Wisconsin, which has the same ranking as OSU, has an average starting private sector salary at $102,000.  Also, $60,000 implies that for everyone making $100,000 there's someone making $20,000.  How is this possible?  Any thoughts?

Yeah, I was really annoyed by their app status checker too.  It changed today for me, showing "Completed" instead of "Pending."  I call the admissions office, ask what that means, since I had been told my application was complete some time ago, and am told that it means the committee decided.  I ask if they can tell me the decision, they say no, because it would violate FERPA.  I say I can give them my SSN to verify my identity, and they tell me not to, because it wouldn't be secure.  WTF?  You put my SSN into a database, link it to the web, attach my academic information to it, and then don't trust the staff not to go out and get a credit card with it?

Yea, I didn't get that either. It goes to 'Decision' and then you wait nervously for a week to get the decision. On the status checkers of all the other law schools, it actually comes out and tells you whether you got in or not. Don't see why OSU can't do that. Maybe it's an Ohio law?

It's not an Ohio law that I know of.  It's just an annoyance.

On another topic, my dorm room was literally across the street from Moritz my freshman & sophomore years.  Incredibly ugly from the outside, but very nice inside.  Probably one of the nicest buildings on the campus aside from the business school.

I loved Moritz when I visited.

Ain't going there, but I loved it.  Good luck, dudes.

Thanks, although I was actually accepted last week  ;D. I'm trying to decide between OSU and some other places, so I gotta ask what specifically about Moritz did you love when you visited? I'd appreciate it if you could enlighten us.

Facility.  People.  Columbus.  The apartment complex where everybody lives at like 20th & High.  Everything, I really just loved it.

Just curious.... I am an Ohio State student and have been admitted to the Class of 2011 at Moritz (havent made a decision to attend yet) but 20th and High doesn't exist!!!  Maybe you mean 11th and High at the Gateway Complex??  North of 18th there are no numbered blocks just woodruff, frambes, lane, norwich, and northwood!!!

I will be attending also. I also went there for undergrad. Moritz is pretty awesome. If anyone has any questions about Columbus or the university, feel free to ask.

I'm going to Moritz also. I was wondering if you could tell me what the good places to live near campus are. I want to move somewhere with an August lease, and everywhere I've contacted has a lease starting in either June or July, which is too early.
