I'm planning on attending UMN. Already sent in my first commitment deposit -- which maybe I should've held out a while to see if they'd give me more scholarship money too...

I got more money after I turned in my check.  In fact I had called earlier that day to confirm that they received it.

This is an old forum that was made by and for accepted UMN students to meet each other before school starts and trade info.  May be useful:

I'd say that site is dead, but I don't think it was ever alive in the first place.

I hope that this is true.  I don't think that you can raise tuition by very much more than inflation without a burning at the stake.  Even if Gov. "I don't raise taxes" cuts funding to everything I don't think they could do that...

Is tuition at Minnesota really set to go up $12,000 in the fall??

That would be criminal!

I vaguely remember hearing Julie Tigges say that in-state tuition via reciprocity isn't automatic - you have to apply to your state's "board of residency and reciprocity" or something like that in order to receive the resident rate.

I hope that's what it is - a $3k out-of-state increase is a lot more palatable than a $12k in-state one.
